During this evening we watch three films during IQMF: Fear + Queer in Azerbaijan + Yadlar and a panel talk with LGBT activists Lasha Fox Tsertsvadze (Georgia), Gulnara Mehdiyeva (Azerbaijan) and Mischa Badasyan (Armenia).


Fear (Raissa Sokurowa, Germany, 2018, 14 min.)
Mikail had to flee Chechnya for being homosexual. Unexpectedly meeting his old childhood-friend Daud in Germany, Mikal is not only faced with a renewed friendship, but a recurring fear of persecution. #ifyoulove Chechnya, diversity and staying true to yourself.

Queer in Azerbaijan (Chris Belloni, The Netherlands, 2018, 38 min.)
Queer Azerbaijan is a mosaic narrative of a number of young queer people from Baku who reflect on the horrible arrests of people from their community in 2017. Tamilla describes life as a young lesbian, and Kamran and Gulnara discuss the limitations of their lives as human rights activists.

Yadlar (Turkan Huseynova, Azerbaijan, 2018, 20 min.)
Yadlar reflects the persecutions and arrests against LGBT people that took place in Azerbaijan In September 2017. The film also showcases the perception of LGBT individuals by the political parties, citizen society and Azerbaijani community. It reflects on how they feel as outcasts in the Azerbaijani society.
