Mandy Sharabani (35) lives and works in the Netherlands. She graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Fashion (2010), where her thesis about optical illusions formed the main concept for her graduation Fashion Collection “A Fools Paradise”. Through drawing, Mandy explores how optical illusion can influence the way we look at a portrait. Working with raw materials such a charcoal and pastel, she has talent to portray people as their simple self without making any comprises. While restraining her way of working, her images have a timeless but modern character to them. Mandy’s portraits are a refreshing experience in our consuming selfie culture with a fine line between expressionism and classical realism.
