Amsterdam Polish Film Festival: Andrzej Wajda. Past, Present, Possible

De Balie Cinema, films die je kijk op de wereld veranderen

The 5th edition of the Amsterdam Polish Film Festival is entirely dedicated to Andrzej Wajda, the renowned Polish director who received an Academy Award in 2000 for his lifetime achievement.

With screenings of a number of his masterpieces, we join the celebration of Wajda Year, marking what would have been his 100th birthday and the 10th anniversary of his death. Although deeply rooted in Polish national culture, Wajda developed a cinematic language that reached a far wider audience, well beyond Poland’s borders. His films demonstrate how national stories often speak to universal questions, and as a result, they continue to have a profound influence on filmmakers around the world to this day.
