Cookbook author Claudia Roden on changing tastes in Europe

A podcast miniseries by the Forum on European Culture

What we eat, we become. Cook book author and cultural anthropologist Claudia Roden was one of the first to popularise middle eastern food into the European mainstream kitchen. With her new way of food story-telling she tried to introduce Europeans, with their very conservative European taste, to new cultures and cuisines. We talk to her about growing up in Egypt in a Jewish-Syrian family, moving to the UK and how food is a way to hold onto your cultural identity and at the same time can bring different cultures together.

This episode is a part of a podcast miniseries produced in the run up to the Forum on European Culture Festival. Please visit www.cultureforum.eu for all the information.
