Award Ceremony European Press Prize

DUUR
90 minuten

Video On Demand: De Balie TV + De Balie Vimeo. Now that information is omnipresent and can be accessed within the minute, quality journalism has become increasingly difficult to make. To counter the effects of a transforming and pressured market, the European Press Prize was founded in 2012. Ever since, the mission has been to highlight the vital importance of fine reporting, shrewd analyses and outspoken comment; and to stimulate the education, reward and protection of journalists from all across the European continent. After travelling around Europe for the past five years, the Award Ceremony of the European Press Prize returns to where it all began: De Balie in Amsterdam. To mark its fifth anniversary, the European Press Prize and De Balie will host an extensive programme, with a masterclass, a movie and various panel discussions. All will lead up to prime moment of the evening: the announcement of this year’s winners. Together with journalists from all over Europe, we will hear the stories behind award-winning journalism. To top it all off, the key note speaker of the evening, Gideon Rachman – chief foreign affairs columnist for the Financial Times – will speak on what it means to be a journalist in this day and age.
