French political scientist Dominique Moisi digs into the role of emotions such as fear and anger in European politics, and calls onto the younger generation to take responsibility for the future. What can be done in order to achieve a new form of stability on the European continent? Two days ahead of the European elections this question seems more relevant than ever.

According to Moisi, one of the most prominent political scientists from France, hope is to be found in the younger generation who should defend Europe.

Dominique Moïsi is a renowned political scientist and policy advisor at a.o. Institut Montaigne, specialized in the field of International Relations. He is the author of various books on diplomacy and international relations, such as The Geopolitics of Emotion: How Cultures of Fear (2009), Humiliation, and Hope are Reshaping the World and La géopolitique des séries: Ou le triomphe de la peur (2018). In 2018 he was awarded the Spinozalens for his work on ethics and society.

After a keynote, Moisi will have a conversation with Bastiaan Rijpkema (assistent professor University Leiden, author of Militant Democracy (2018), moderated by Yoeri Albrecht (director De Balie).
