IQMF – Debate Representing the queer/migrant community: who talks for who?

Who is the best representative of the queer & migrant community? As a festival we want to keep a critical gaze inwards as well and we also wonder who has a right to speak at any given time. We will explore this based on the following 3 statements. Statement 1: You can only be a LGBT-activist if you are part of the LGBT community
Statement 2: White LGBT individuals are not equipped to represent queer people of color
Statement 3: There is too much discrimination within the LGBT community Wie vertegenwoordigt als beste de queer & migrant community? Als festival werpen we ook een kritische blik op onszelf en willen we onderzoeken wie überhaupt recht van spreken heeft en wanneer. Aan de hand van een aantal stellingen treden we met het panel en het publiek in gesprek. Stelling 1: Je kunt alleen LHBT-activist zijn als je zelf tot de LHBT-community behoort
Stelling 2: Witte LHBT’ers zijn geen goede representanten voor queer people of color
Stelling 3: Er is teveel sprake van discriminatie binnen de LHBT-community
