What does ‘home’ mean when people are separated by borders, distance, loss and years of war? Letters Home is a cross-border documentary theatre project bringing together Ukrainians living in the Netherlands and those who remain in Ukraine, exploring painful questions of belonging and home.
Letters Home, created by United Ukrainian Theatre (UUTheatre) in the Netherlands and Actor’s House Theatre Platform in Zaporizhzhia (a frontline city in southeastern Ukraine), brings together professional actors, displaced Ukrainians and war veterans from both countries.
Letters Home shows radically different experiences of the same war against Ukraine. Stories from different people reveal the complex reality of Ukrainian society four years into the war – and the connection Ukrainians continue to feel toward one another despite thousands of kilometers of separation.

About United Ukrainian Theatre United Ukrainian Theatre is a theatre platform for professional Ukrainian artists based in Amsterdam. Founded in 2023 by Ukrainian director and playwriter Yasha Gudzenko and actress Alesia Andrushevska, UUTheatre creates independent Dutch-Ukrainian productions and supports Ukrainian artists working within the European cultural environment.
About Actor’s House Theatre Platform Actor’s House Theatre Platform is municipal theatre in Zaporizhzhia. It operates as an open artistic platform for contemporary theatre, interdisciplinary projects and cultural dialogue.
