Re:Thinking Europe with: Larry Siedentop

DUUR
120 minuten

Video On Demand: De Balie TV + De Balie Vimeo. Over Larry Siedentop

Taal: Engels Redactie: Anne-Marijn Epker Larry Siedentop, one of Europe’s most influential liberal thinkers of today, will speak about Europe’s future, and the role of liberalism. According to Siedentop, European leaders should focus more on the liberal values that shape our European identity. But what do these liberal values entail exactly? And is the idea that the liberal democracy is the ‘end of history’ not outdated, if we look at the current problems with the Euro, the increasing popularity of anti-liberal and populist political parties? Are Europe’s citizens still in favor of the idea that individualism and freedom are the most important values in our societies or are these values under threat?

About these questions, journalist and moderator Eelco Bossch van Rosenthal will speak with Larry Siedentop. Political scientist Bastiaan Rijpkema, will present column during the program in reaction to Siedentop’s keynote.
