En hoe verantwoordelijk voel jij je voor genocidale situaties uit het verleden? Dwaal door De Balie en reflecteer op deze vragen tijdens de interactieve en ervaringsgerichte tentoonstelling door het hele gebouw die theatermakers Ilil Land-Boss en Giselle Vegter speciaal voor deze avond opbouwden. Na afloop van de tentoonstelling zullen experts Erna Rijsdijk, Ugur Üngör, Nenad Fišer, en Inger Schaap in debat gaan over individuele en collectieve verantwoordelijkheid voor genocides en extreem geweld. In hoeverre zijn wij medeplichtig? En hoe kunnen we ervoor zorgen dat we genocide en massaal geweld in de toekomst kunnen voorkomen? Een unieke avond met video- en geluidsinstallaties, dialogen, een vragenspel, lezingen en debat. Met o.a. Erna Rijsdijk (universitair docent Militaire Ethiek aan de Nederlandse Defensie Academie (NLDA)), Nenad Fišer (filosoof en voormalig medewerker bij het Joegoslavië Tribunaal in Den Haag) en Ugur Ümit Üngör (onderzoeker NIOD instituut, professor faculteit Geesteswetenschappen aan de Universiteit Utrecht) en Inger Schaap (historica, national director Humanity in Action Nederland). Markha Valenta zal het gesprek leiden. Theatermakers Ilil Land-Boss en Giselle Vegter hebben uitgebreid onderzoek gedaan naar de relatie tussen menselijkheid en genocide. Hun documentair-theatrale installatie Sieben Räume Unbegreifen ging afgelopen voorjaar succesvol in première in Duitsland en is nu eenmalig in De Balie te ervaren. And do you feel responsible for genocidal situations of the past? Wander through De Balie and reflect on these questions during the interactive and experiential exhibition that theatre directors Ilil Land-Boss and Giselle Vegter made especially for this evening. After the exhibition experts Erna Rijsdijk, Ugur Üngör, Nenad Fišer, and Inger Schaap will discuss our individual and collective responsibility for genocides and extreme violence. To what extent are we complicit? And how can we prevent the occurrence of extreme violence in the near future?
A unique evening with video- and soundinstallations, dialogues, a question game, lectures, and debate. With among others Erna Rijsdijk (university lecturer Military Ethics NLDA), Nenad Fišer (philosopher and former employee Yuguslavia Tribuna), Ugur Ümit Üngör (researcher NIOD institute, professor Utrecht University) and Inger Schaap (historian, national director Humanity in Action Nederland). Markha Valenta will moderate the discussion.
Theatre directors Illil Land-Boss and Giselle Vegter have examined the relation between humanity and genocide. Their documentary-theatrical installation Sieben Räume Unbegreifen successfully premiered in May 2015 and can now be experienced in De Balie.
