Experimenterend met het concept ‘food for thought’, ensceneert The Discrete Charm of Marxism een leesgroep die zich laat ervaren als een zes gangen diner. Het publiek consumeert naast echt eten ook (neo)Marxistische teksten die vanuit verschillende posities het kapitalisme ondervragen. De lengte en de wijze van deze tekstconsumptie is afhankelijk van de manier waarop deze worden opgediend, namelijk, als ‘amuse’, ‘vis’, ‘roast’ of als een selectie van ‘lokale kazen’. Het publiek wordt uitgenodigd alles samen tot zich te nemen, te lezen en te bediscussiëren. Dit ‘voedsel’ laat zich goed smaken in een grafische lay-out, terwijl het echte eten en drinken in de bibliotheek klaar staat als een serie boeken. Voor deze gelegenheid zal het diner verrijkt worden met Cubaanse specialiteiten. Bojan Djordjev (1977, RS) is als theatermaker actief in zowel institutioneel als onafhankelijk theater. Onderdeel van zijn werkzaamheden in theater en performance zijn collectief schrijverschap/ curatorschap, post-dramatekst/ taalperformances en theorie-als-praktijk. Djordjev is MA afgestudeerd in Theory of Arts and Media aan de University of Arts in Belgrado waarin hij momenteel promoveert; BA in Theatre Directing at Faculty of Drama Arts, Belgrado. Schrijver, regisseur en performer van talrijke stukken in Belgrado, en verschillende in Wenen, Lyon, Stuttgart, Gent en Zagreb. Dit programma is onderdeel van Connecting Cuba. The audience is invited to dinner but instead of consuming food it is served texts consisting of Marxist quotes on class positions/investments in critique of capitalism, varying in length and mode of consumption depending whether they come as “starters”, “fish”, “roast” or selection of “local cheeses”. The audience is invited to communally consume/read/discuss the food. The “food” and entire dinner iconography is rendered through paper and graphic layout, while real food and drinks are served in the library shelves – as books. For this occasion the dinner will be enriched with Cuban specialties. Bojan Djordjev (1977) is performance maker from Belgrade, educated in theatre and art theory at Unversity of Arts, Belgrade and DasArts Amsterdam. As an artist he is interested in indiscipline text/language based performance and performative potentials of theory. Apart from Belgrade, his works have been shown in Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam, New York, Vienna, Zurich, Zagreb, Rijeka, Ljubljana… One of the co-founders of TkH – Walking Theory theoretical and artistic platform and journal for performing arts theory, Belgrade. His recent works revolve around finding artistic and theatrical public formats for Marxist thought as well as research into artistic heritage of the Left in Yugoslavia and elsewhere. In spring of 2016 he took a trip to Buenos Aires on a cargo ship in order to study intricate choreography of world trade. This programme is part of Connecting Cuba.
