Ex-CIA agent Amaryllis Fox opens up about her ten years as a CIA agent. She explains what working for the intelligence agency was like and why she chose to write a book in which she shares detailed information. According to Fox ‘Old-fashioned’ offline espionage comes with great risk, but offers intelligence services opportunities cyber espionage doesn’t.

Amaryllis Fox is an ex-CIA agent and writer. At twenty-one, she was recruited by the CIA. Her first assignment was reading and analyzing hundreds of classified cables a day from foreign governments and synthesizing them into daily briefs for the president. She was later deployed as a spy under non-official cover–the most difficult and coveted job in the field as an art dealer specializing in tribal and indigenous art and sent to infiltrate terrorist networks in remote areas of the Middle East and Asia.

Frank Groenewegen is chief security expert at Fox-IT. He is responsible for high profile investigations, incident response cases and the gathering of intelligence in the rapidly changing cyber threat landscape. Frank has supervised major investigations, such as the Diginotar, KPN and Belgacom hacks.

Willemijn Aerdts is lecturer/researcher at Leiden University – Institute of Security and Global Affairs, and an expert on intelligence services. Among others, she teaches about (the development of) methodology used in the intelligence field. Her PhD focusses on intelligence oversight.
