This programme is part of Artists Against the Kremlin, a showcase of anti-war, anti-authoritarianism art presented by The Moscow Times, All Rights Reversed gallery and De Balie in Amsterdam from August 3 to September 3.
During this night we showcase a selection of documentary and fiction short films, animations, and video clips. The main themes include the war in Ukraine, Russian imperialism and colonialism, the loss of identity, displacement and the search for a new home in an unfamiliar reality, and the struggles of political prisoners in Russia.
These films and animations serve as expressions of resistance, offering insights into the human experience under oppressive regimes and the ongoing fight for freedom and dignity.
Artists that will be featured during this evening include: Sasha Svirsky, Roma Liberov, Lazy Square, Nadya Tolokonnikova (Pussy Riot), Kulema, Vladlena Sandu, Art Group Yav, Mikhail Ray, Artisterror, The Party of the Dead, Mr. Freeman, Ira Derviz, and Animators Against War.
