In our newsletter we mentioned 16 September as screening date, this was a typo. Unfortunately, Abigail Disney won’t be coming due to personal circumstances. The screening will still take place.
In The American Dream and Other Fairy Tales filmmaker and great-niece of Walt Disney, Abigail Disney, delves into America’s inequality crisis, exploring the struggles of low-wage workers and the transformation of modern capitalism. The film weaves together Abigail’s family story, interviews with Disneyland workers, and expert commentary, as the film unveils the complex interplay between corporate power, racism, and the elusive American Dream.
The screening will be followed by a conversation with professor of Ethics of Institutions Ingrid Robeyns. Can institutions like The Happiest Place On Earth really change? And what ethical considerations and moral responsibilities should big corporations embrace in their pursuit of a more just society?
