Polyamory is more visible than ever. Having multiple partners can allow for freedom, autonomy and fun. But how do you navigate this when your upbringing tells you to follow a singular path or while raising children? And how do you deal with jealousy?
Writer and journalist Deepa Paul, author of You Can Ask Me Anything – Love in an Open Marriage, will share her personal journey: from growing up in the deeply catholic Philippines, where divorce is nearly impossible, to shaping an open marriage in The Netherlands. Together with others, we’ll discuss the realities of having multiple romantic partners, from navigating family and cultural expectations to redefining love on your own terms. We will explore what it means to embrace multiple lovers and multiple identities.
Deepa Paul is a Filipina-Indian author living in Amsterdam. Her writing explores the balance between being a mother, wife, girlfriend, daughter, adventurer, and herself – all at the same time. Her journalistic writing has appeared in Seventeen Magazine Philippines, The Philippine Star, Philippine Daily Inquirer, and Singapore Women’s Weekly, while her personal essays have been published in Cheex, Gal-Dem, the Sky Island Journal, Expanded Field and Rappler.
