In a world adrift, it is all too easy to shut ourselves off from everything that is happening around us is: from disasters, wars and humanitarian crises. How do we remain connected to the world around us, and to its history – not only intellectually, but emotionally as well?
Through stories varieying from the 1984 Bhopal disaster in India, the largest industrial disaster in history, to the Iran-Iraq War of the 1980s, we explore the concept of restorative justice: the act of doing justice by active listening. What does it take to truly listen to, bear witness to and acknowledge the experiences of others?
The programme is inspired by the performance Nothing Bigger Than Humanity by Resonate Productions. Diverse voices from our collective past come together as testimony to global power dynamics. These forces can fracture even the most fundamental bonds between people, leaving us torn between profound love and deep fear. Can we find ways to remain connected, and in doing so contribute to restorative justice?
Throughout the evening, live music will accompany and shape the conversation.
