Le Consentement is the film adaptation of the memoir of the same name by Vanessa Springora, in which she describes how she was groomed during her teenage years by the celebrated French writer Gabriel Matzneff. The book caused a shockwave in the French literary world, where Matzneff’s activities were nonetheless widely known. He even wrote about sexual encounters with young children in the Philippines. Yet it was not until 2020 that Matzneff finally fell from grace.
