As part of the De Balie Icons series, De Balie welcomes the world-famous Jane Goodall (Ph.D., DBE., founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace) via Zoom. We will engage Goodall in a dialogue on what the world could look like after the COVID-19 pandemic. Will this crisis usher in a different way of relating to Earth? How can we promote a stronger commitment to the recovery and preservation of the planet?
In recent decades, nature has lost out to our desire for economic growth, says Goodall. As a parameter of prosperity, a country’s GDP always takes priority. In our programme, Jane Goodall will share her ideas on how this global crisis is forcing us to reconsider our priorities, and which strategies we might use to restore the world economy in a sustainable manner. And how can we change our relationship to nature and to animals, in order to prevent similar pandemics in the future?
