Rules of War (première)

War is as ugly as life gets. Wherever war is waged, there are victims to mourn: both in the military and amongst innocent civilians. That’s a horrific reality, and wars seem to be the epitome of lawlessness. But that is not entirely true. There is a certain set of rules to abide when it comes to warfare: the rules of war.

On behalf of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Albert Schoneveld travels through South Sudan to educate local fighters in these rules. Filmmaker Guido Hendrikx followed Albert during his work and made a fascinating documentary that raises a lot of questions.

Is there even such a thing as humane warfare? And how ‘universal’ are these rules of war? After the premiere of the film, we will discuss these questions with Albert Schoneveld and other experts.
